The Secretariat of China Textile Engineering Society is based in China Textile Information Center

Established in April 20, 1930, China Textile Engineering Society (CTES) is a national mass academic organization formed voluntarily by persons engaging in the research of textile science and technology, aiming at the promotion, dissemination and popularization of textile science and technology. It is registered and authorized as a corporate body and a member of China Science & Technology Association.

At present, CTES has set up local branches in over 150 large- and medium-sized cities and recruited both corporate members covering almost all renowned enterprises, research institutes, universities and colleges, social communities and administrative departments in the Chinese textile circle and more than 53,000 individual members.

CTES consists of Secretariat, the Academic Committee, the Department of Organization,

the Department of Technique Popularization, the Publishing Department, the Liaison Department and the Jury of “Chen Weiji Excellent Thesis Prize” as well as the Editorial Committees respectively for “Textile Journal” (monthly), “Popular Textile Technology” (fortnightly) and the “Textile Chapter” of “The Chinese Scientists Biography”.

CTES has 19 subordinate technical committees covering the all the sectors of the textile Industry, including cotton textile, wool textile, bast fiber textile, knitting, chemical fiber, dyeing & finishing, silk, textile machinery & equipment, textile design, home-textiles, garment & accessories, standard & testing, air-conditioning & dust extraction, industrial textiles, technology & economy and information.

CTES is dedicated to:

1. Organize academic exchanges between domestic and foreign scholars, promote the development of textile study, popularize the knowledge of textile science and technology, disseminate scientific spirit and methodology, extend the application of newly developed textile technology and promote non-governmental technological cooperation worldwide.
   
   
2. Compile and publish science and technology books, periodicals and relevant audio and video products.
   
   
3. Organize scientists and technologists in the textile circle to participate in the decision making process for the development of textile industry as part of the national economy by involving in scientific argumentation, providing technical consultation service and making proposals. Entrusted by related departments, make evaluation on scientific projects, appraisal on scientific achievements and judgement on rewards. Organize textile science & technology-related exhibitions, compile and exam technical documents and standards and offer technical consultation and advice service.
   
   
4. Authenticate qualification of membership; provide members and technical personnel with education and training services; discover and recommend talents as well as cite and award prizes to members and technical personnel who have made outstanding achievements in textile R & D activities.
   
   
5. Sponsor social service undertakings that are in accordance with the essence of CTES and the principle of China Science & Technology Association.
   
   
6. Set up entities in accordance with the tenets of CTES.
   
   
7. Safeguard the legal rights of technical personnel and report opinions and requirements of members.
